The REST API in Splunk is something that we can use in so many different ways. In this blog, I am going to go through some commands that I made to create a dashboard that could be useful for a team.

 

There are so many useful searches you can use within the REST API, from configurations, configurations, inputs, lookup, searches.

Brand New: Introducing Function1's New Logo

Since its inception in 2007, Function1 has been represented by two logos, most recently one that lasted us for the past six years. Our previous logo served us well over those six years, but during that time we have been lucky enough to grow and evolve, leaving our logo feeling dated and disconnected with the Function1 of today. At the end of the summer of 2015, we embarked on a rebranding mission, one that we hoped would result in a new logo that more closely aligned with Function1 as we know it.

Every Click You Make, Splunk is Watching You…

When I am at client sites I often get asked how they can get a better understanding of what is going on in their Splunk environment. A recent client wanted to understand what dashboards were being used the most in their environment and who were the top users. What a great thought! I knew that Splunk had to have a way to track this. It was just a matter of locating the data and then determining the best way to pull it. After going back and forth between metadata and the internal index, I came across this in Splunk’s internal index.
